I thank and praise God for giving me both the strength and the patience to finish[3] this book. My family and my friends have given me unparalleled support and ideas in abundance. I’m thankful for the friendly nagging from my mom and dad, which always kept me thinking about my story. This book is dedicated to the characters. To all the Daniel Taylor’s, Shari’s, Conner’s, Hampton’s[4][5], and all the countless and unique personalities which I can only hope to bring into a clear view. To the real life people behind the characters – some of which I know[6] and have written into this story – and to all who relate: This is your story.
[1] James was nearly my actual first name, so it seemed fitting to use it as part of my pseudonym. Greenfield, however, has no personal connection to me. I found that last name by looking at the back of DVD cases and thought it sounded unique enough. I feel like this is a microcosm of my writing style: Carefully insert layered Easter eggs about myself while simultaneously putting little thought into other equally critical places.
[2] Also, I shit you not, I did use Impact font for the title and Comic Sans for the pseudonym.
[3] It turns out I didn’t in fact have the strength (read: creativity) to finish this book. Instead, now I’m asking for the strength to finish reading this.
[4] At this present moment, I have zero recollection about who this character is.
[5] Also, I don’t think these names need to be in the possessive form? And only my self insert gets a last name, obviously.
